I watched the movie Apollo 13, directed by Ron Howard, produced by Brian Grazer, and staring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Paxton. This movie was released in 1995 and relives the 1970 Apollo 13 mission to the moon. Following in the footsteps of Neil Armstrong, the Apollo 13 liner mission was sent into space with the goal of landing on the moon. While in space on there way to the moon, disaster strikes when an oxygen pipe bursts and damages the space ship. The crew aborts there mission to land on the moon and attempts to safely make it back to earth.
I would give this movie a four out of five stars. It was a very well made movie with a great story line. Tom hanks did a great job of playing Jim Lovell and really brought the story to life. At times they may have over dramatized what actually happened which made the movie feel a little fake. Over all this is a great feel good movie for the whole family to enjoy.
In one scene the camera has a full shot of the Mission Control Room facing the people in the room. It is a very tense moment as the astronauts have just entered the atmosphere of earth and this is there live or die moment. As they wait the camera does not move and it makes the scene feel very long and shows the intensity of the moment. When they get the radio call that they have landed safely the room erupts in excitement. The camera then shifts to an up close view of the head mission controller as he just stands in awe as the room explodes around him.
